White-bellied Sea Eagle Spotted at the Luagan Lalak Forest Recreational Park

On the day Anthony and I visited the Palmetum Garden at the Sungai Liang Recreational Forest Park we also drove to the Labi Hills Forest Reserve (another 30 mins or so) to check out the newly renovated recreational park that had been closed for almost two decades. The whole time I had thought the park is simply called Labi Forest Recreational Park, at least that’s what I recall from the official signage, but as it turns out, The Brunei Times today reported its official reopening in conjunction with the World Forestry Day celebrations — and it’s called the Luagan Lalak Forest Recreational Park.

"The recreational park started groundwork in 1993 and covers a total land area of about 275 hectares but only 10 hectares is developed and open for public visits." PHOTO: Canon PowerShot G11
"The park was developed for nature lovers who enjoy jungle trekking, picnicking, expeditions and also fishing." Where there's fish there are predators. Captured here is what appeared to be a white bellied sea eagle perched across from us. PHOTO: Canon PowerShot G11
