The Royal Trophy to be Hosted by The Empire Hotel & Country Club Brunei

The Royal Trophy is a major sporting event that pitches the best 8 professional golf players in Asia against the best 8 professional golf players in Europe. It is similar to the Ryder Cup – which pitches the best 8 players in Europe against the best 8 players in the U.S.A. For the first time in its six year existence, the Royal Trophy will be staged outside of Thailand, and we are absolutely thrilled to know that Brunei and The Empire Hotel and Country Club have been selected for this great honor.  Hosting the Royal Trophy in Brunei is a wonderful opportunity to further promote this globally expanding sport within Asia, where Asian players are themselves rising to the very top of the professional rankings world-wide.

"Ozaki will captain the Asian Team at the Royal Trophy on 14-16 December 2012 at The Empire Hotel & Country Club in the Sultanate of Brunei," said Lincoln Venancio, the Royal Trophy Co-Managing Director.

“The next edition of the Royal Trophy promises to be exceptional. The Asian Team will certainly be looking to revenge that extremely hard defeat experienced earlier this year and we are totally confident that The Empire Hotel & Country Club and the Sultanate of Brunei will be a tremendous host and venue for the Matches. They have been voted the best golf resort in Asia Pacific for a second consecutive time and their facilities are truly exceptional,” added Lincoln Venancio.

“We have all witnessed five great series of matches played between the continents of Europe and Asia. In each edition the teams competed with tremendous determination and will to win. But the sportsmanship demonstrated by the captains and players has also been of the highest level. We are looking forward to a fierce competition in the next edition of the Royal Trophy, but also to a competition played in a true spirit of fairness which is at the heart of our great sport,” stated Andy Yamanaka, Chief Tournament Director of the Royal Trophy.

  1. hi, I saw your comment on the Turbo 2×2 and its NiMH batteries. I want to replace the battery pack, but how do you get the pack out of the bottom of the leatherette case? It seems glued or wedged in there. I’m not too keen to jump in and wreck anything unnecessarily. Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks
