About

Welcome to the official blog of Jan Shim Photography
incorporated 27th April 2006

Jan Shim is a Brunei Darussalam based freelance professional photographer since 2004 with a growing portfolio in international travel, tourism and published images in various local and regional magazines. Backing this career change is 13 years of sales, marketing and operations in the IT industry having frequently travelled parts of Asia for courses and conferences. Today, my work takes me to places I had never dreamt of and I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to work with Brunei Tourism, Singapore Tourism Board and Tourism Malaysia.

That’s me on the right in traditional Malay costume receiving the eagerly anticipated Brunei Citizenship certificate from YB Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka  Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin, the Minister of Home Affairs on 25 January 2011.

“Thank you for sharing. Good luck with the Citizenship exam results. I am very confident that you will get it this time. As a Brunei PR, you have been most inspiring for a lot of Bruneians. I am one of them. Having read the article on you, I have nothing but full of admiration and you have put me to shame as a father of two kids for I felt that I have not spent enough time with my family. Keep up the good work and take care!” — Aron W.
“Wow! So well written and inspiring! I, too, wish with all my heart that you will be one of us (Brunei citizens) soon.” — DN.

    Please contact me!

    • As a result of corrupted codes, the Contact page was inaccessible. Good thing the client found an alternative page to leave a comment and all went well. A screen capture of the final layout can be seen in this post. Compared to the original image, I think you’ll agree that the end result appears somewhat underwhelmed.

    • Ayyaz,

I clicked your link to take at look at how a fellow WP author may have used the Enterprise Theme and was surprised by the limbosoul.wordpress.com is no longer available. flag. If you have accidentally or intentionally deleted your blog, you should know that the action is irreversible. All customizations applied to this blog (a CSS subscription is required) are discussed and documented in the following link:

      http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/css-code-for-enterprise-theme

If you have any questions about CSS customizations, I’m sure you can figure out who in the discussion are the most knowledgeable. Being programming illiterate I surprised myself at the extend I was able to understand and carried out the modifications. Wish you all the best!

  6. I got teary eyed while reading the article above. Family first inspiration in a world that sometimes can become hectic with the fast pace of being number one, popular and making money by means detriment to those around.

I love photography and will be back.

    • Most if not all comments that I’ve received in the context of “I’ll be back” have turned out to be spam. You’re a distinct exception that I have come to appreciate and I’m thankful for every one of your comments you posted since.

    • Hello Brittany! Thank you very much for dropping by and leaving a comment and a compliment. Customizing this theme from scratch was quite a learning curve especially when I don’t understand codes. I’m thankful to the forum volunteers for their invaluable help. Here’s the link to the forum thread If you ever feel brave :)
