DST BROADBAND. GO FOR IT!

with 6 comments

I’m incredibly blessed to live in the sleepy town of SERIA, slightly over an hour’s drive from the Brunei capital. A high 90% of my clients are in fact located in the capital yet and while I moan the long, dry commutes from each trip, the peace and tranquility of the oil town makes it all worthwhile. The amount of time I spend on the road has also made mobile connectivity a necessity.

So it was only a week ago when premier mobile operator DST launched GO! broadband in a big way that shook and stirred the internet service provision business. So much so that there’s presently an electrifying mix of ecstasy and utter disappointment, the latter belonging to subscribers of the competitor’s price plan.

There’s nothing like having a great deal that’s TWO good to pass up and packs twice as much speed as the other party. It never ceases to amaze me the lengths corporates GO! to sweeten the deal. The competition stiffens and retaliates with new plans but I know who has my support.

  5. just wondering… where do i get the email add of the broadband services anyways? i cant seem to find it. broadband is getting freaking slow after a few months.. close to being a dial up speed which is pretty much really dissapointing. called them up about these problems and yet they don’t seem to bother… i guess they really do stand up to their “MALAS TAH KU INGAU” attitude.

Having previously been an IT professional, I was a member of the team that implemented BruNet ISP and in that time I got to know the team that was supporting E-Speed broadband. You wouldn’t believe the amount of “fires” we have had to put out every so often. Countless GO subscribers have voiced their disappointment to me but I am sympathetic to both sides and unfortunately, there isn’t anything I can do to make the pain and frustration go away.

I am not a big fan of HSDPA or wireless internet but the convenience they offer have made digital communications a clear favourite. Still, I prefer the security and reliability of a wired network whenever possible.

And, I’d give our ISPs the benefit of the doubt and ease off the “MALAS TAH KU INGAU” attitude assumption. Just because the front line staff aren’t picking up their phones doesn’t mean the back end tech support aren’t doing anything. Personal experience has taught me to be persistent in order to get results. We shouldn’t have to but we do!
