There’s an exception to every rule! I make a point to spend my weekends with the family. This means I pass on events that fall on weekends including the mother of all events, Weddings. When a client and good friend called to tell me he had taken over the management of Vintage Rose, I made an exception and accepted the assignment.
Last year, I brought a couple of journalists (centre) from USA TODAY to lunch at Vintage Rose, they were impressed with the setup, quite the venue that makes you forget you’re in Brunei. Which brings me to another matter. While chatting with a few regulars on MSN, it occurred to me that so many hadn’t heard of this establishment, many more didn’t know how to get there. Well folks, Vintage Rose is located in Kiulap in the Brunei Capital, across from the Korean Restaurant which in my limited knowledge, is probably the one and only Korean eatery.
OK, enough said, here’s an exclusive view of Vintage Rose … it’s quite the exception!

Jan I can see myself kicking back in the Vintage Rose drinking fine coffee as I rebuilding my PC machine after a drive failure . I should have listened to ShimWisdom but i chose not to back up. I should have listened but man this coffee tastes great
Another round?

That’s the kind of venue I wish we had more of around here in Seattle. The cozy, warm feeling of an establishment that’s “not quite on the map yet”. One that’s well broken-in and takes you back in time a bit as soon as you sit down. And with a menu that looks as delicious as this, it seems like a perfect combination.

Jan due to your outstanding photography once again, I guess I will have to make a trip down to Brunei just for the “Coffee” at Vintage Rose. Will be leaving San Francisco 11th June….
Thanks for the photos, it was all very appetizing and I am glad you did not do any local cuisine like Chicken Rice or Satay or Roti Prattas. It would not have been well received (by me!!), the starving one from across the Pacific.
Although, the Lamb chops looks absolutely delicious…..hmmmm

OK let a Seria guy (me) attempt to direct you to the Rose. When you drive into Kiulap, stay on the right lane. Assuming you know there’s a Guan Chuan KONICA photo lab on the left hand side, the entrance to Vintage Rose is across the road from Guan Chuan where you see the large ACER signage. Once you’re in the right entrance, drive all the way to the end and you’ll see LeOrient on the right and the Korean restaurant is on the left … Vintage Rose is right underneath LeOrient.
Hope this helps.
