THE BRUNEI TIMES: LAUNCH OF A NEW PAPER

Brunei Times Souvenir Edition.
July 1, 2006 had twice the significance for Brunei than usual. It marked the day when Brunei Times begins its service to the nation. It also marked the start of the auspicious month of His Majesty’s 60th Birthday celebrations. With its first anniversary just round the corner, I say this post is not a moment too soon!
The launch of Brunei Times was more than an official launch of a new newspaper publication; it was the launch of Brunei’s most anticipated newspaper … even its motto Fresh Ideas, New Options, Global Vision simplified its mission into six words. The launch was definitely a high profile event, with the ‘who’s who’ of the diplomatic, governmental, and local business sector ~ Debbie Too, Brunei Times.
When contacted if I would be available to cover the event given the short notice, I gladly accommodated for an opportunity to be a part of a very important day in Brunei’s history. The image above is a Brunei Times Souvenir Edition printed in limited quantity that was handed out to dignitaries and guests at the launch. This copy is one of only two in Brunei that had been autographed by the team at Brunei Times and is in my possession among other event memorabilia.
