May 26-27, 2007. The company synonymous with a passionate pursuit of perfection has outdone themselves with another successful Lexus Golf Classics 2007 at the Royal Brunei Golf & Country Club (RBGCC) in Jerudong. The event was held over two days where a total of 43 flights competed for the grand trophy and a chance to win the Hole-in-One prize, a Lexus LX470 at Hole 16 and a GS300 at Hole 3. Congratulations to Nett Winner, Pg Dato Paduka General (Rtd) Hj Abidin and Gross Winner, Lt Col (Rtd) Hj Ibrahim Jumahat, pictured here with NBT Managing Director, Mr Ninan Chacko. The winners’ next destination is Perth, Australia where they will compete in a tournament paired with world’s best ladies golfers.
This was the third NBT Brunei event of the year for me, the last one being the NBT Toyota Avanza Grand Draw 2007 that was held on April 22. Unlike other events that are typically indoor, shooting a outdoor event such as Golf can be very challenging depends largely on course design and layout. There are several photography vantage points at RBGCC and I was pretty much rooted at Hole 1 where it’s very unlikely to get hit by a golf ball unless it’s way off course. Shooting from tee off as early as 7am or 1pm impacts the outcome of the photography and is unfortunately unavoidable due to the nature of the event.
In the gallery, you’ll see images shot from ultra-wide (10-22mm) to telephoto (100-400mm) while the flight photos were taken on the 24-70mm with fill flash to lift the harsh shadows (not shown). On a related note, some visitors were apparenly disappointed with this gallery from a recent Lexus roadshow where they wanted to see more of car than the finer details of the vehicle. In this gallery you’ll see just that - full vehicle shots.
Love your gallery Jan. The 10-22 gives you great perspective options. I love mine on my 20D too. Your gallery also brings back memories from when I used to play golf more than I do now.

Picture compositions are taken beautifully. An excellent photojournalistic presentation. Love the picture of the man on the buggy with the driver. Should have put more emphasis on the Lexus car. ~ Pranadewa, ClubSnap Forum
The Golf pictures are great too. I like the angles on the Lexus. Look better than some of the ad shots I have seen. You should work for Lexus too. ~ Mike Patterson, publisher of A Flood of Tears

I am not a golfer, have no technical knowledge for cars (being a girl and all) so usually when I come across a magazine or website with these topics, I usually just skip by them entirely!!! But again you’ve managed to peak my interest and made me scrutinize every detail in every picture.
You did an excellent job capturing the event, but what made me miss home was, “Oh, the Beautiful Brunei Sky!!”
Hello Gloria,
Thanks for visiting and comments. I’m no golfer either but I do appreciate great rides (being a guy and all). Having been involved with Golf tournament photography for three clients, I’ve learnt a little about this mental game, something my wife and I once considered taking up.
