“If music be the food of love, play on”~Shakespeare
If food be the reason to celebrate, what better time to do so than Feb 14 on Saint Valentine’s Day. This year I decided to do it with food aligning perfectly with my newfound passion for cooking. Instead of flowers I had Ferrero Rocher chocs, stuffed inside gift boxes for the wife and kids. Instead of candle-lit romance, we fired up the night with Japanese Teppanyaki and servings of specially marinated beef slices, prawns and chicken breasts complemented with Japanese curry, garlic rice and Japanese green tea. I hope you enjoy the gallery as much as I enjoyed preparing it. Seeing the dinner guests’ light up with excitement made it all worth while. [Gallery]

Hi Jan, your wife is a lucky gal! it is a very special and unique way to show your appreciation by cooking your own creation of recipes to your family not just the wife especially on the valentine’s day(on many occasions we forget about the rest of the family-the kids and the old. ppl usually celebrate valentine only with the wife in a fancy-cozy restaurant! but I think I like the idea of doing it with the family esp at home where you can take your time and really enjoy the foods. thumbs up!

Jan,
Such a vivid appeal to the senses…crisp clear photos to demonstrate what the words are explaining. You truly have a great eye and outlook on life and capturing it to share with the world. Truely inspiring.

Hi Yumi.
Many thanks for visiting and your kind comments. Over the years I had given flowers to the women in the house and this included my mom and our live-in maid. Naturally, this also included our daughter, Jewel. This year I wanted something different and instead of roses, I used Ferrero Rocher chocolates … needed four dozens of them to fill the gift boxes I used as pre-dinner gifts. When we involve kids in celebrating Valentine’s Day, they learn how love is defined and shared in our family. It was also the first time we had Teppanyaki and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
